18 July 1947 Friday

Studied section 132 of doctrine and covenants. See rougher than it has been all Voyage so we didn't sleep out. We crossed the equator about noon. the passengers witnessed the destruction of the crew. The poliwags were taken back to the fantail blindfolded and one at a time they were taken up on the afterdeck house and given the works. That included confession and sentence, haircut, painting feeding and washing with salt water. All through everything they were quite mercilessly paddled. The only passenger that got the works was the sarge, and he asked for it.
