I counted it up today. From May 19, when we first spent money in Portugal, 'til May 31 we spent about $1200. That includes a lot of set-up cost and first and last month rent and such, but wow!! This must settle down.
Rained a bit in the mid-morning, then cleared up all day. Tonight it is clear again. We mailed our mail, picked up our laundry, went to Porto and a papelaria (paper store) and paderia (bread store) at Praça Marquêz do Pombal, picked up photos and delivered them to the mission office and transacted a bit of business there. The Chapmans are assigned there, but Sister Chapman called in sick. We shopped at the Modelo and found Peanut Butter. Knowing she likes and needs peanut butter, we took her a jar of it. Drove by. Visited for just a bit, then returned home. We spent the afternoon getting files organized, studying language and getting better acquainted with this crazy typewriter. Evening journal and gospel study. We're bracing for one more night of NOISE from the music group that practices downstairs 'til wee hours. The Dona says that will end—they have their performance on Saturday (tomorrow). I hope so! We haven't had a full night's sleep for several nights.
